Founded in 1996, White Engineering, LLC is a full-service electrical engineering and planning firm that delivers solution-driven electrical engineering and design services to our clients.
White Engineering, LLC has the simple goal of providing electrical design services for new building construction and renovation projects with a focus on providing ultimate value to our clients. We seek to bring a thoughtful and intuitive design approach to each project. We also strive to recognize and meet the project-specific needs of our customers and to tailor each design with the end user experience in mind. It is our priority to provide designs which accommodate our client’s budget and that also maintain code compliancy.
Our firm has a wide array of project experience, having produced professional electrical design contract documents for approximately 2,000 new building and renovation constructions across 16 states over 22 years, including commercial, municipal, institutional, military, industrial, and residential facilities.

Jim White, PE
JIM WHITE, PE
Principal
Jim White is the Founder and Owner of White Engineering, LLC in Dothan, Alabama and in that capacity serves as Principal Engineer and lead Project Manager. He has been providing professional consulting engineering services to local architects, contractors, municipalities, private companies, and other local clients, as well as regional and national clients through White Engineering since 1996. He has provided full service electrical design consulting services for commercial, industrial, governmental, institutional, utility, residential, and military facilities. His expertise in electrical engineering design includes a broad range of systems such as power, lighting, grounding, alarm, security, and data. Additionally, his experience includes design for Structured Cabling and CATV, CCTV, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intercom Systems, and other signal systems. He utilizes this experience for the development of contract Drawings and Specifications, field inspections and investigations, engineering calculations, research, and CAD design. He has also provided consulting services for medium and high voltage power distribution systems and electrical design for telecommunications and data center facilities. Jim has been a registered professional electrical engineer since 1981 and is currently registered in 14 states. He has had over 37 years of electrical engineering, management, and project management experience.
During his spare time, Jim enjoys spending time with his six grandchildren, working on do-it-yourself home renovation projects, fishing, and visiting nearby beaches.
Michael White
Michael White
Senior Electrical Designer
Michael White has worked at White Engineering, LLC with his father, Jim, for a total of eight years, including six years as an Electrical Designer and two years as a Senior Electrical Designer, but his experience extends to over 12 years, having also worked as an Electrical Designer for three other professional electrical engineering firms located in California, Florida, and Georgia. He is proficient in the design of power, lighting, control, data, fire alarm, structured cabling, grounding, security, signaling, CATV, CCTV, intercom, intrusion detection, digital metering, and alarm systems as well as other miscellaneous systems. His responsibilities include the development of design documents from the project’s start to its completion. He also works closely with clients, coordinates with engineers of other trades, and maintains relationships with manufacturer representatives to meet project needs. He utilizes the latest CAD, BIM, and calculations software to develop project Drawings and Specifications. Additionally, he has extensive experience conducting field investigations for electrical data gathering and has visited 17 states in that capacity.
When Michael has free time, he enjoys hiking and trail running in the coastal mountains of his town of Santa Barbara, California as well as camping, wilderness backpacking, and going to local beaches.
